What makes a person drift so far away from who they truly are?
Lots of reasons exist that might be the cause. Jobs, family, friends, environment, loss...the list goes on and on and could possibly extend to the ends of the universe and infinity. We've all been down such a road in our lives. Most of us have allowed people who don't really care about us and meaningless jobs to siphon out every ounce of our real selves, tearing away the layers until nothing true remains. We have an "idea" of the person we are, others have an "idea" of the person we are, but most of the time those two "ideas" are never the same. We only allow people to see what we want them to see when deep inside we're so much more. Opening ourselves up to the world is a risk; rejection and humiliation wait at every turn and because of it, many never present their true selves to the world. Be the risk taker. Put your true self out there for the world to judge. We may as well be judged for what is really beneath our skin than be judged for what people believe is there. © RC Woods and rc-woods.com 2014. We all face an inevitable end. It's one thing we all have in common whether
we are white, black, brown, yellow, good, evil or other. There is not a soul on this earth that has the ability to change it, predict it or plan it....we must take whatever is handed to us. Some people are given a gift...the gift of time. They have the opportunity to say their final good-byes, make arrangements and tie up loose ends... but there is always an element of suffering as payment for the gift. Selfishly, I cherish the moments spent with loved ones who were given the gift; the opportunity to tell them how much I love them and how much they've meant to me. But as smart as we humans like to believe we are, why do we wait until the end to tell people how we feel? The gift is never a guarantee. Some people fade away quickly; their lives snuffed out in a matter of mere moments. The people you love and care about...tell them, don't wait. © RC Woods and rc-woods.com 2014.
